RESTORE OUR FLORIDA

About Me

My name is Anushka Naidu

I’m a high school senior at Wellington High School, competitive tennis player, environmental advocate, and community volunteer.

My interest in Florida’s environment grew through working on my family’s farm, studying wetlands and waterways, volunteering with animals, and participating in environmental programs.

My connection to the environment comes from hands-on experience. I help care for plants and animals at my family’s farm, volunteer at an animal shelter, and studied Florida’s wetlands and waterways through the H2O To Go Program at FAU Pine Jog.

These experiences taught me that protecting nature is not separate from protecting people.

I created Restore Florida to bring together my interests in science, leadership, and environmental action—and to help more people understand why Florida’s native ecosystems are worth protecting.

Protect Florida’s Native Future

My mission is to help protect and restore Florida’s native plants, animals, wetlands, and waterways.

Healthy ecosystems support wildlife, clean water, pollinators, food systems, and healthier communities.

Florida’s biodiversity is part of what makes this state unique.

We want to help protect it.

RESEARCH

H2O To Go Program — FAU Pine Jog

Participated in hands-on research focused on Florida’s wetlands, waterways, and aquatic ecosystems.

My work included field experiments, wet lab activities, and wetland surveys. I was also part of a wet lab at FAU studying plankton and volunteered to join a field research expedition.

Through this experience, I learned more about water quality, wastewater reclamation, and the role wetlands and microscopic aquatic life play in healthy ecosystems.

This research strengthened my interest in understanding and protecting Florida’s natural environment.
